day ninety-nine

i can't believe it's friday and i still haven't told you about the human eyeball container.

tenzin was sick on the weekend. he was sick as in super sick, running a fever, cuddling, sweating, and had to go to the hospital sick. so off we went in the car, down the long road to the hospital to see what we could do about getting him better.

we were sitting there in the examination room. we read some books, played with some toys, washed his hands in the sink and sat around killing time for a while waiting for the medicine to kick in and bring down the fever. it was during one of the innocent sitting around phases when The Husband looked up towards the top of one of the big shelves that was standing in the corner holding tongue depressors and gauze and medical whatnots. "look up there," he said. "read that container." and i did. and it was labeled 'human eyeballs'.

you think you've seen sick when your child has a fever so hot his cheeks are flaming scarlet. you think you've seen sick when your baby is so ill he won't eat. you think you've seen sick when you've done everything you can do and he's not getting better.

but on the upside, hey, at least we had no use for the bright cherry red container sitting high up on a shelf whose single purpose is transporting human eyeballs.
