day ninety-five

today, i was visited by the easter porcupine. i didn't know he existed either.

i went outside to take my picture and heard some scratching up in a tree behind me. i ignored it. i heard it some more, but it was getting louder. i checked it out. something very large and furry was climbing down from a tree behind me. i thought it was a sloth, but i'm not sure if sloths even exist in canada, let alone in my front yard. upon closer inspection (that was not very close at all) it looked like some kind of monkey. i was tired. could it be the largest cat i'd ever seen? no way, that thing was huge. time to leg it inside where it's safe.

turns out it was just the easter porcupine, slowing making his way down one tree only to stop at the bottom, take a single sniff, and climb straight up the adjacent tree.

seriously, this country living thing is really weird. i'm just annoyed he didn't drop off any chocolate.
